The Breeze Studio
Interior furnishings designed with repurposed old growth cypress lumber salvaged from the Vlassic Pickle factory. Breeze design studio is located in Birmingham, Michigan. Interior floor plan was designed by Nick Quirring and Nina Cherin.
SUSTAINABLE MILLWORKS
The backbone to against the Grain is our sustainable millworks division. atG offers locally harvested wood products such as custom made doors, flooring, moldings, countertops, sinks,and historically matched millworks. atG's skilled craftsman can assist you with all of your custom woodworking projects.
FURNITURE
atG studios create custom designed furniture pieces for the home and office. The mission in every design is to present the natural beauty of the material, and to accompany it with a thoughtfully designed foundation. against the Grain furniture is constructed of reclaimed and environmentally conscious harvested woods. Commissioned designs are always welcomed.
ARCHITECTURAL CRAFT
At against the Grain one of our core beliefs is that our environment in which we live should inspire and represent who we are and what we strive to be. Each year atG accepts a handful of of commissioned projects to construct "living furniture." As a licensed building firm we design and execute custom living spaces for the home or office. DESIGN STUDIO
against the Grain is located in heart of Lansing's historic Old Town district. Please feel free to stop in to the studio to see our craftsman at work on a variety of custom designed projects. The studio also has one of a kind sustainable built pieces for sale. We are happy to take a minute and share with you what can be created from locally resourced materials in an organic and modern fashion. Our studio also has studio artist that work in glass and organic wall finishes for your building and design needs.
DESIGN CONSULTING
against the Grain offers full design services for your residential and commercial projects. We can assist you with architectural drawings, material selections, custom designs and sustainable building consultation. against the Grain has a full service design studio that we can spend time with clients sharing ideas and establishing a blueprint that can guide them through their project. against the Grain also offers full interior design and industrial design services to its clients. My Design philosophy against the Grain holds a strong creed of creating one of a kind sustainably built products and custom designed interiors without adding to the carbon footprint left on our earth. With a deep connection to the earth and its preservation we create one of a kind furniture and millworks for all of your interior design and architectural needs. Our designs are based on modern designs that pay homage to the craftsman of our past. We believe that in order to protect our future we need to preserve our past. At against The Grain we accomplish this through the materials that we select for our projects. We use old growth lumber salvaged from abandoned buildings and from storm-felled trees that would otherwise find its way to the landfills. We cut and mill all of our own lumber from the tree so that we can guarantee an artisans eye is overseeing your project. At against The Grain we believe that the spaces that you live and work in should inspire you to be the person that you dream of being and should tell a story.
